Farinati is most distinctive and best known of the group of early painter-etchers in Verona. Inspired by the activity of Giulio Romano in nearby Mantua, his ponderous forms and emphatic contour were readily translated into etchings by the artist himself and those in a virtually identical style by his son, Orazio.
