Overindulged politicians, dressed in velvety reds and greens, seem mute, ineffectual, and even ridiculous in a scene more indicative of barroom stupor than passionate debate. In Point of Order, William Gropper presents a theme he helped popularize in Depression-era America: the corrupting influence of wealth and power.
