On View
Not on viewJohn Raphael Smith was the most refined of the last generation of British portrait mezzotint. His sensitivity to tone and sympathy to personality are especially evident in this plate, of his own design and publication. An administrator and antiquary, Musgrave was best known as a collector of prints including some 10,000 portraits.
