Jesùs Escobedo was a member of the Taller de Gráfica Popular [People’s Graphc Workshop], a socially and politically engaged art collective. Drawn in a bold graphic style, this lithograph, as well as “Cargador,” focus on the human figure depicted at work and at rest. In “Mujer dormida,” Escobedo’s dynamic approach gives the bundled figure a sculptural quality by sharpening the angular shadows and contrasting the blanket’s bright tones against a dark background.
