Jesùs Escobedo was a member of the Taller de Gráfica Popular [People’s Graphic Workshop], a socially and politically engaged art collective. Working in conjunction with his two other works, “Mujer dormida” and “Cargador,” “Vendedor de leña” is evidence of Escobedo’s interest in the individual as a way to comment on the broader class struggle of the laborer.
