On View
Not on viewBrouet was a noted French engraver and illustrator with a devoted following among connoisseurs of the early twentieth century. He illustrated Les Frères Zemganno by Edmond de Goncourt as well as works by J.-K. Huysmans and the ancient Roman writer Virgil and produced more than 300 drypoints and etchings during his career. Having grown up poor, he took as his primary subject the working classes and scenes of poverty. [Benezit]
