The Tiburtine Sibyl, a prophetess associated with ancient Rome, was said to have shown the Emperor Augustus a vision of the advent of Christ. This chiaroscuro, one of Trento’s most controlled and beautiful, seems to have been a composite of several designs by Parmigianino.
