On View
Not on viewLefort des Ylouses used complex modern printmaking techniques, building texture in his engravings by layering colored inks and embossing the paper. Far from a traditionally tranquil landscape, this modern view is emotive and dramatic. The tumultuous sea and predominantly dark tones suggest upheaval. Even the windmill appears unstable, made up of expressive curved lines that seem to set it in motion.
