Not on viewPartly because of exposure to German examples and artists, partly because of the technique’s natural breadth and generalization of effect, woodcut was more prominent in Venice than in any other Italian school. Rough but unabashed and practically expressionistic, this was probably Schiavone’s only effort in the technique.
