A follower of Sebastiano Ricci, Diziani is distinguished by a sharp, angular mode of design, a relatively cool, silvery palette, and widespread activity across Venetian territory. Between 1717 and 1722 he was also active in Munich and Dresden. This sheet is characteristic of his exceptionally loose and vibrant draftsmanship.
