Cecilia Vicuña’s installations and performances embody an aesthetic of ritual. In “Precarious,” humble debris from everyday life brings to mind votive offerings or ethnographic displays. To make the work Vicuña gathered random materials during a performance at Austin’s Waller Creek. She bound them together with thread, evoking the fragility of life, as well as the metaphorical threads that connect humans and the environment.
