On View
Not on viewPennell covered this unusually large lithograph with large, expressive markings. Using the side of the crayon he showed the lines of the rocks. A shock of white through the center disperses into the foreground, which is of lighter tone and activated by scratches of white. Two pairs of trees balance the composition without making it artificially symmetrical.
