On View
Not on viewThis print was occasioned by the death in 1634 of Francesco II de’ Medici, sixth son of Cosimo II. It records Parigi’s decoration of the interior of the family church of San Lorenzo with the catafalque in the middle of the nave and the Medici coat-of-arms above. The etching appeared in a book describing the obsequies of Francesco and again in 1637 in a volume celebrating famous Medici funerals.
