On View
Not on viewStillness #30 is part of a larger collection of nude self-portraits that explore Laura Aguilar’s embodied relationship to land. Posed in a crouched position and surrounded by branches in a field in San Antonio, Aguilar blends in, questioning the conflation of women’s bodies and landscapes. As a disabled, large-bodied, lesbian woman, she boldly asserts her presence in the work, challenging the historical photographic erasure and objectification of marginalized people.
