On View
Not on viewLe Brun (1619-1690) was artistic arbiter and principal painter for Louis XIV. He founded the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture in 1648, controlled design from his position as director of the Gobelins tapestry works, and conceived most of the decoration for the king's new projects, including the palace at Versailles.
This print is an interpretation of Largillierre’s composition of circa 1683-84.
