This print is a reproductive engraving after one of Greuze’s most famous compositions. Greuze was unusually aware of the aesthetic and commercial possibilities of printmaking. Flipart was, with Beauvarlet, Cars, and Massard, one of the four engravers he regularly engaged to interpret his designs, and by the 1760s his favorite.
