Most of Grosz’s mature works present political commentary in lithographs of a cartoonish style. A very early work influenced by Max Beckmann, Lasterhöhle is an unusual expedition into a depraved subculture by means of extensive drypoint and appropriately agitated drawing. The Leo Steinberg Collection includes two other very rare and fine proofs by Grosz. There are, however, few other modern German works.
