Shipboard Girl exemplifies Lichtenstein's work from the 1960s, created with a deliberately limited palette and a pattern of benday dots to suggest the tonal gradation of the halftone printing process. As with most of Lichtenstein's work, his print has no direct souce but represents a translation and transformation of familiar comic book imagery.
