On View
Not on viewBentivoglio (1579-1644) was papal secretary to Clement VIII and nuncio to the Netherlands. His history of the Dutch war of independence from Spain, Della guerra di Fiandra (1632) remains a basic source. Painted in 1623, today in the Pitti Palace, Van Dyck's full-length portrait is one of the great works of his Genoese period.
