Robert (1733-1808) was celebrated for landscape paintings and drawings that often feature classical ruins and anticipate Romanitic elements. Also a curator of the royal painting collection, hwe was imprsioned during 1793-94, but then seved on the commission organizing the nw national museum fro which the Louvre descends.
