On View
Not on viewThe Venus and Adonis was painted for Philip II in 1553 and sent to him in London on the occasion of his wedding to Mary Tudor in 1554. In addition to numerous workshop versions of the painting, there were several engraved reproductions. This was the first and most sophisticated.
