This print is from a series of twelve engravings by different printmakers after Rubens' drawings of antique marble sculptures. Brutus is after a pen drawing by Rubens now in the Hermitage, St. Petersburg. Rubens' drawing and the print are after an unidentified marble sculpture that was probably part of Rubens' antiquities collection acquired from Sir Dudley Carleton in 1618.
