After his return from Rome to Bologna in 1527, Parmigianino employed Antonio specifically to translate his designs in chiaroscuro woodcuts. Their style is distinguished by the careful elaboration and meticulous cutting of the black line block. While little is documented of Antonio’s life or activity, Vasari relates that he stole prints, plates, and drawings from the master.
