On View
Not on viewManuel Espinosa’s Axdeer is a composition in subtle tones. Axdeer embodies the characteristics art historians have repeatedly associated with Espinosa’s work: elegance, lyricism, and harmony.
Espinosa uses different color tones to produce a three-dimensional illusionistic effect. Thus, he subtly suggests a situation that transcends the rectangularity of his canvas. Through the unconventional nature of his art works he challenges the viewer’s expectations and hopes to inspire them. His goal parallels that of avant-garde politics; he strives for an improved socially democratic society. Whether these aesthetic developments could help bring about social transformations remains an open question.
