On View
Not on viewWhen Padura was a young boy, he spent a great deal of time with his father, an engineer. Padura admired and was fascinated by his father's drawings, and it was through these engineering illustrations that Padura became interested in art. Something of the detached, objective eye of the engineer is evident in Padura's detailed and precise still-lifes, which critics have noted display a "glacial polish" and "elegant technique." Padura is best-known for still-lifes such as this one, which he sees as a vehicle for bringing to the surface his deepest feelings.
