Not on viewThe two sides of this sheet, a second drawingin the Blanton's collection, and two more drawings in the Albertina, Vienna, are all slightly varying studies for the same composition. While no corresponding project has been identified, this meticulous graphic process is characteristic of the artist. Moreover, the very sweet types and gentle tenor of the subject recall that during a long period in Rome (1770-76), Unterberger specialized in copying Old Masters and in imitating Correggio with particular success.
