Of all the painters of the Venetian terra firma, Zelotti was the closest to Veronese in essential make-up, elegance and mastery of large-scale decoration. His palette was, however, much more restrained, and his underlying design was distinctive in its insistence upon simple shapes and unnaturally smooth contours. This rather schematic study underscores his greater stylization.
