Biscaino’s style was determined by the more stylized and lyrical painters in Genoa, Valerio Castello in particular, then further shaped by Castiglione. Drawings and etchings represent most of his brief activity. Their forms tend to be elastic in structure, iridescent in surface, and delicate in touch. This late drawing, explicit in its dependence upon Parmigianino’s types and Castiglione’s innovative techniques, is unusually bold.
