In 1960, Antonio Llorens joined Grupo 8 [Group 8], an association of artists active in Montevideo whose objective was to pursue an individualized and experimental approach to art rather than develop a shared aesthetic. Llorens favored flat planes of solid color in his paintings and graphic work. He employed the same formal elements in this three-dimensional sculpture. The result is a graceful composition of elegant shapes that extend outward in space with restrained yet decisive energy.
