On View
Not on viewThis individual, full-length depiction of Saint Thomas was part of an intended series of all twelve Apostles. The figure offers a variation on an austere, well-balanced and monumental figure similar to that of an antique philosopher. At the time, such a series was almost an obligatory endeavor for printmakers. Dürer, however, initiated the task later in his career and completed only five of the plates before his death.
