The larger inscription commemorates the building of the bridge by Lucius Fabricius in his capacity as Superintendent of Streets. The smaller inscription records that the consuls Quintus Lepidus and Marcus Lollius had inspected the work and approved it, possibly after repairs following a huge flood in 23 B.C.
