On View
Not on viewSoutman's plates were often etched, extremely flexible in their drawing, and unusually subtle in their tones. As a result, they wore more quickly than the pure and systematic engravings. For their inherent artistic quality and relative rarity they have always been the most prized prints after Rubens. A late work in pure etching, this is the most spectacular of the five in the Steinberg Collection.
