Not on viewClassical ruins reclaimed by nature was a common romantic subject during the decades surrounding 1800. In 1819, after completing the Liber Studiorum (see case), Turner visited Italy for the first time and returned every few years after that. Baia is a site on the Bay of Naples made popular by the many tourist guides to Italy published at this time.
