On View
Not on viewActive principally in his native Dresden, capable in all media, Kellerthaler was noteworthy as a designer of book illustration and decorative objects. His figural style generally derives from that of the great Mannerists at Rudolf II’s court, Spranger and Hans von Aachen. This drawing has been compared with a signed painting of 1592 in Cologne and, on account of its format, even distribution of motifs, and incisive articulation, suggested as a design for metal work, perhaps a dish or plaquette.
