The environmental intervention documented in this series of photographs occurred on the University campus on the corner of 24th and San Jacinto in early November 2003. The work was produced using large wooden frames, inside which red iron oxide (a natural earth pigment) was painted on the grass and ground. Weather and growth of the grass eventually fade the seven red squares, as the pigment settled into the ground. While many artists find themselves working against time, nature and change in their work, van Scherpenberg sees this natural activity as an essential part of her artistic project.
