On View
Not on viewLong after other Genoese artists had turned from Cambiaso's style, Benso adhered to its principles. His monumental fresco decoration is exceptionally systematic in organization and rigorous in perspective. And his drawings insist upon extreme stylization and exaggerated calligraphy. With its underlying geometry, ornamental line, and broad wash, this sheet is characteristic.
