Not on viewThe scene depicted was based on Eby's visit to Algeria during 1920 and 1921. In printing most impressions, Eby left a skim of ink along the top and bottom edges of the plate to create tone. This is the earliest example of his experimentation with plate tone. (Giardina 78)
