Not on viewTypical of drawings around 1550, the Perseus is characterized by tremendous energy and incomplete resolution. Its powerful, Michelangesque forms are still awkward in their construction and incomplete in their foreshortening. Meanwhile, with the basic language derived from Perino del Vaga, there are signs of a personal calligraphy, like the remarkable abbreviation in Perseus's lower legs. Around this time Luca and his father were decorating several palace facades with mythological subjects. This drawing was probably a preparatory study.
